Scottish Canals have a provisional masterplan which is in the early stages of development.
This masterplan includes potential hotel and holiday lodge developments. Scottish
Canals have indicated that no floor space data is available for the future developments
at this time, but as plans are at a conceptual stage there is opportunity for innovative
developments that would favour a flexible approach.

The site is located in an area which eligible projects may attract 15%-35% Regional

support can be provided.

Local Network Infrastructure
The Falkirk Wheel is in close proximity to the M876 motorway and signage from the
motorway network for traffic from all directions is of a high quality. Upgrades
to M9 Junctions 5 and 6 benefit access for traffic coming from the east, and connections
for all forms of transport between The Kelpies and The Falkirk Wheel are excellent.
Access
Vehicle access to the site is provided by the formal service entrance to The Falkirk
Wheel. Additional access to the main car park can be taken from the M9 and M876
motorway routes. Sustainable travel to the site is well catered for via the excellent
quality towpath links on the Forth & Clyde and Union canals.
