Location
Helix extends from Polmont and Laurieston north to the Carron and includes a broad
swathe of green space and community infrastructure including the Falkirk Stadium,
Helix Park and The Kelpies.

The site extends to 350 ha.
Ownership
The site is owned by Falkirk Council, Callendar Estate, Scottish Canals, Novelis
and others
Development/Planning Status
The site is designated in the Local Plan as greenbelt and includes designated wildlife
sites and is part of the Falkirk Green Network. The draft Local Development Plan
maintains the greenbelt designations with the stadium site given an economic development
zoning.
Available Financial Assistance
The site is located in an area which eligible projects may attract 15%-35% Regional
Selective Assistance funding. Further information on eligibility of RSA funding
support can be provided.
TIF Supported Enabling Works
The TIF project can provide funds to address enabling infrastructure associated with
flood mitigation; road access; utility infrastructure and site preparation.
Local Network Infrastructure
The Helix site has a junction connecting to the A9 and is connected to an extensive
network of footpaths and cycle ways. With the opportunities that The Helix can
provide for future commercial leisure and sports, recreational and cultural development
there is potential for further infrastructure enhancements.
Access
Public access is available from the A9 and A904 corridors with car parking accessed
from the Etna Road junction and next to Falkirk Stadium.
